February is National Children's Dental Health Month
If you are a parent, a grandparent, an aunt, an uncle, or a teacher, this month is a great opportunity to make an impact on a child's healthy habits that can extend into their adult life. It's extremely important to impress upon young minds good dental homecare. If the child gets in the habit of flossing and brushing in the morning and before bedtime, not only will the baby teeth be free of cavities, but hopefully, the adult teeth will follow the same pattern. Children do very well with the flossers on a stick and there are products made with children in mind that will help oral care to be more fun. Sonicare has a child's electric toothbrush that is totally awesome and fun to use. It has an app that can be downloaded to entertain and educate the child for the two minutes they are brushing. Crest/Oral B also has an app that can be downloaded by scanning one of their Stages children's brushes. There are many online resources, including videos, that can be used, not only to educate the child, but can make oral health fun for them. Remember that the habits that we form as children, stay with us for a lifetime. So, do something wonderful for a child by instilling good health practices in them.
